For the Ninth Doctor it is all new stuff which I haven’t seen at auction before.
FOOTNOTES
During these episodes, the Ninth Doctor (Christopher Eccleston), Rose Tyler (Billie Piper) and Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman) were kidnapped to the "Games Station" on Satellite 5, and forced to participate in an apparently lethal TV game shows. The satellite and the games themselves proved to be an elaborate cover for the machinations of the mad Dalek Emperor, which had survived the Last Great Time War and was 'harvesting' humans for conversion into new Daleks in order to rebuild its race. Surrounded by The Emperor's Dalek minions and faced with utter defeat, the Doctor was rescued unexpectedly by Rose, but in circumstances which led inexorably to his regeneration into his eleventh incarnation (David Tennant).

PropStore.com have been selling high-end props and costumes for sometime now, including the occasional Doctor Who piece.

But this month they are holding a live auction at the BFI IMAX cinema in Waterloo - for all intents and purposes a Bonhams style auction.

there‘s some amazing stuff on offer, from Mr Spock’s costume from classic Star Trek, to costumes from Back To The Future, the Alien and Star Wars films.

And unlike the last couple of years of Bonhams auctions, there are is a good spread of quality items on offer to attract the interest of the dedicated Doctor Who fans out there.

I think I was expecting another full-on sale of ex-BBC items, but what it appears to be is a general Memorabilia sale, with a hand full of Who related lots.

There are seventeen items in total, and you need to real carefully what they are. The repeated use of the phrase “built for exhibition purposes” is a bit disappointing.

I’ll go to the viewing, but I can’t see myself bidding on anything.

Amongst the James Bond and Beatles items (and Christopher Lee’s original cape from his first Dracula film) are a number of original Doctor Who costumes, some dating right back to the very first season in 1964.

Also on sale are three Doctor costumes; one from Jon Pertwee’s last series; Jon Pertwee’s jacket when he appeared in the Children In Need special, Dimensions In Time; and a near complete Colin Baker outfit (sadly missing the coat).

This is an opportunity I can’t miss, if not to bid, but to at least go along to the viewing and take a closer look, and maybe some decent photos.

Ironically I have just done a replica (to a slightly different pattern) of the Six trousers, so now I will get the chance to check out my work against the real thing close-up. I will take a swatch of the fabric I used and compare it.

The viewing is Sunday 14th and Monday 15th June, so I will go on Monday and take some more detailed pictures, particularly of the Doctor costumes.

I claim no expertise in the wardrobe for this Doctor, but I thought it worth sharing my own experiences in collating a costume.

Essentially I only have one project that is relevant, and it’s not the most exciting, but I did think it well worth showing what I did as I go along.

The Ninth Doctor’s era was short, but memorable. I think by the time we all got around to thinking about wearing a new series Doctor Who costume, the more striking and headline catching David Tennant was on the scene and all thoughts of Christopher Ecceston’s incarnation had already been forgotten.

This was a shame really, as his costume was one of the more accessible and quickly re-creatable of all the Doctors to date.

I’m going to take a look at some of the replica Nine jackets available, with just my opinion as an observer rather than a proactive owner.
That said, I will aim to make this a resource for as many things Nine as possible.

Happy reading!Steven Ricks Tailoringhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07549983020683092455noreply@blogger.com0
